What to Pack for a Yacht Charter in Greece
A yacht charter is not a resort holiday. You do not need a suitcase full of outfits. You need practical items that work on the water, dry quickly, and do not take up cabin space. Here is what our skippers recommend.
Clothing
Swimwear (2-3 sets). You will be in and out of the water all day. Having a dry set ready saves discomfort.
Quick-dry shorts and tops. Cotton takes hours to dry on a boat. Synthetic or linen fabrics are better. Light colours reflect the sun.
A light layer for evenings. Even in July, evenings on the water can feel cool once the sun drops. A thin hoodie or long-sleeve shirt is enough.
Soft-soled shoes. Hard soles mark the deck. Boat shoes, clean trainers with white soles, or deck sandals work. Leave the heels and boots on land.
Sun Protection
The reflection off the water doubles your UV exposure. This is the number one thing people underestimate on a yacht day.
SPF 50+ sunscreen (reef-safe if possible). Apply before boarding and reapply every two hours. Do not forget the tops of your feet, backs of your knees, and your ears.
A wide-brimmed hat that you can tie down. Wind will take baseball caps overboard. A hat with a chin strap stays put.
Polarised sunglasses. Polarised lenses cut the glare off the water dramatically. Attach a strap so they do not end up on the seabed.
Water Gear
Water shoes. Many Greek beaches have pebbles at the waterline. Thin-soled water shoes protect your feet and fold flat in your bag.
Our charters include snorkelling gear and towels, so you do not need to bring your own unless you prefer a specific mask.
Electronics
Waterproof phone case. Not optional. Phones and salt water do not mix. A waterproof pouch costs a few euros and saves your phone from an expensive swim.
A portable charger. The yacht has USB charging, but if you are taking photos and videos all day, a power bank is useful.
What NOT to Bring
Hard suitcases (no storage space onboard, use a soft duffel). Black-soled shoes (mark the deck). Excessive clothing (you will wear swimwear 90% of the time). Glass bottles (they break on a moving boat).
Pack light, pack smart, and spend your energy on enjoying the water. Book your Lefkada charter and we will take care of the rest.
